A recent project that has improved several local intersections is now complete.
The SINC-Up project was a five-year collaboration of the City of Butler with Butler Township, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission and PennDOT to repair 18 intersections in and around Routes 356 and 68.
“The signals along Routes 356 and 68 were all re-timed and coordinated, and that was one of the main goals to sync up the lights so we have better flow of traffic,” Butler City Code Enforcement Officer John Evans said during a Butler City Council meeting on Thursday.
Evans said this upgrade to the system not only helps modernize it, but also helps the city cut down on maintenance costs.
