Organizers of a program that seeks to help feed hungry Butler School District students are asking for help from local businesses.
The group behind the Kids’ Weekend Backpack Program is looking for businesses interested in donating stamps to help cut postage costs for a mailer going out this fall. The group needs 400 stamps.
Interested businesses can message the Kids’ Weekend Backpack Program on Facebook.
Earlier this month, the group organized a ‘Stuff A Bus’ event where $15,000 in food was collected, along with another $2,000 in monetary donations.
The program sends backpacks filled with non-perishable food items home with students during the school year who struggle to find food at home during the weekends when they can’t rely on a school breakfast or lunch.
