The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 last night at PNC Park. The night began with the Pirates taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Starling Marte hit a three-run home run. He now has five home runs in the 11 games since the All-Star break. But the Cardinals scored in three of the next four innings on Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer, who took the loss. Archer allowed four runs on seven hits as his record fell to 3-7.
The Pirates managed just two hits after the first inning.
It was the ninth loss in 11 games for the Bucs. They host the Cardinals again tonight at 7:05pm. WISR pre-game is 6:40pm.
