The continued financial recovery of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler has allowed for modest raises for employees.
According to Treasurer Brian McCafferty, the Authority’s balanced budget for 2020 is nearly $148,000 which represents about $20,000 more than last year’s budget.
This figure includes a 5% increase in pay for Operations Manager Veronica Walker as well as rehab inspector Art Cordwell. A situation of high debt several years ago resulted in no cost of living wage increases for employees before a 3% increase in 2019.
The Authority finished 2019 with total expenses 7% lower than the amount budgeted. The Authority is still responsible for repaying money borrowed to purchase the Penn Theater which remains vacant.
