The City of Butler Police Department is welcoming two new law enforcement officers of the furry, four-legged variety.
According to Chief Bob O’Neill, K9 officer Chooch will be partnered with Lieutenant Brian Grooms and K9 officer Rico will be partnered with Officer Andrew Niederlander.
The dogs recently completed over three months training at the City of Pittsburgh training facility.
The dogs, as well as the necessary training and vehicles, were all paid for through grants and donations big and small from the community. Ongoing care for the dogs will take place through continued financial gifts to the Butler City Canine program fund.
