Investigators are looking into what started a fire at a Jackson Township business yesterday afternoon.
13 fire companies were dispatched to a fire at the LINE-X and Krown building, which is in 2000 block of Route 19—that’s about two miles south of Zelienople in Jackson Township.
That fire was called in around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The building is about 10,000 square feet and everyone had evacuated safely before crews arrived.
Harmony Fire District and Cranberry VFC Chief Scott Garing:
“Harmony was the first engine there. They found a significant fire in the warehouse portion of the building on the Alpha Bravo side. They attacked it with a two and a half inch attack line. We arrived immediately after them and started first to truck company operations and began searching the building for extension.”
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time pending an investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal unit later this week. Damage to the structure was extensive and getting adequate water supply was difficult resulting in the need to shut down the road:
“The entire warehouse is destroyed but there are two more that were attached to it that were saved but just have smoke damage. There was no hydrant so we had to do rural water movement and shuttle in water.”
Most firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 2 p.m. and the portion of road that was closed was then re-opened.
