February is Black History Month and Slippery Rock University has numerous events scheduled to mark the occasion.
The theme of Act Now, Join the Movement will give students the opportunity to explore the African American culture.
More than twenty events will be presented throughout the month- including a kickoff event at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the SSC Ballroom with refreshments, music and other entertainment, as well as a comedy show on Wednesday, and a voter registration event on Thursday.
Other activities sponsored by SRU’s Office of Inclusive Excellence this month include a keynote speech from a member of the Central Park Five on Feb. 10, an NAACP Founders Day Celebration Feb. 12, movie viewings and discussions, and the Ebony Ball on Feb. 27.
