Nascar has announced the 15 nominees for the Hall of Fame class of 2021. The list includes drivers Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Burton and Carl Edwards. All three are first-time nominees. Former drivers Harry Gant, Neil Bonnett and Ricky Rudd are nominated along with former championship crew chiefs Harry Hyde and Kirk Shelmerdine. Three individuals will be elected in two categories – Modern Era and Nascar Pioneers.
After not making the list last year – Janet Guthrie is back on the list for the second time. Guthrie is a women’s pioneer in the racing world – being the first to race in the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600.
Nascar had announced a ballot structure change in February for the next class, reducing the number being honored from five to three.
