The United States Department of Agriculture is providing a 40% monthly increase of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits.
This increase will allow many low income individuals to secure an emergency allotment supplement which will provide the maximum amount of benefit allowed by law.
As many families face joblessness and hunger, the USDA also recently introduced the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program to assist farmers, ranchers, and consumers.
The goal of this $19 billion relief program is to preserve the food supply chain by assisting producers with loss of demand and oversupply as well as partner with distributors to purchase food for those in need.
