Kevin Harvick won the Nascar Cup Series race at Atlanta Sunday – with a dominating performance for his second victory since the series returned from a pandemic shutdown. He led the final 55 laps and led a total of 151 laps – more than twice as many laps as any other driver.
The victory was Harvick’s 51st of his career – breaking a tie with Ned Jarrett and Junior Johnson for 12th on the all-time wins list.

Nascar president Steve Phelps addressed the state of racial injustice in the nation prior to the start of the race – saying Nascar and the nation must do better. Drivers stopped their cars during warm-up laps for Phelps comments.
Scott Dixon won IndyCar’s coronavirus-delayed season opener in Texas Saturday, taking the victory by 4.4 seconds over Simon Pagenaud. With the win, the five-time IndyCar champion notched his 47th career victory and tied A.J. Foyt’s record of 18 seasons with a win.
