In the Stanley Cup Playoffs:
–Washington held off elimination with a 3-2 victory last night over the New York Islanders. The Capitals scored three unanswered goals after falling behind 2-0. The Islanders now lead the series 3-1.
–Philadelphia has the Montreal Canadiens on the brink of elimination following a 2-0 victory Tuesday. Carter Hart stopped all 29 shots from Montreal, as the Flyers have taken a 3-1 leads in their Eastern Conference First Round Series.
–The Vegas Golden Knights were the first team to win their first-round series after a 4-3 victory last night over the Chicago Blackhawks. Vegas wins the series 4-1.
–Dallas defeated Calgary in their Western Conference match-up 2-1 to take a 3-2 series lead.
Hockey Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk, who became the face of the Winnipeg Jets after being their top draft pick in 1981, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 57. Hawerchuk also played for Buffalo, St. Louis and Philadelphia in his 16-year career.
NBA Playoffs:
–Orlando defeated Milwaukee 122-110.
–Miami defeated Indiana 113-101.
–Houston defeated Oklahoma City 123-108.
–Portland topped the Los Angeles Lakers 100-93.
