As the drought watch continues, Pennsylvania American Water is asking Butler County residents to reduce water consumption.
The Commonwealth Drought Task Force of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection made the determination for 16 counties last week.
In order to conserve water, residents should use water only when necessary, only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads, and be efficient when watering gardens. Residents can also check for leaks and have them fixed quickly as well as install water-efficient appliances. Use a broom instead of a hose to clean outdoor surfaces.
Pennsylvania American Water maintains that their sources of water supply are currently adequate to meet the needs of customers but the company has launched a special social media water conservation campaign with daily conservation tips all week.
