Medical experts are warning families about the dangers of the most recent viral video challenge on social media.
According to several national physicians, some teenagers have been participating in a game on the TikTok app called the Benadryl Challenge.
This game involves teenagers encouraging each other to consume as much of the over-the-counter allergy medication as possible in order to hallucinate. This stunt is blamed for the hospitalizations of three teenagers in Texas in May as well as the death of a 15-year-old in Oklahoma last week.
Physicians agree that Benadryl is a very safe antihistamine causing sedation but overdose can result in heart attack, seizure, stroke, coma, and death. Families are encouraged to make sure kids understand that consuming too much Benadryl is dangerous and will not result in a high.
