The Pittsburgh Pirates completed their season with an 8-6 loss to the Cleveland Indians Sunday. The Bucs finished the season 19-41 for the season.
The Sunday loss followed an 8-0 victory for the Pirates Saturday night. Rookie Ke’Bryan Hayes went 5-for-5 in that game with three doubles. Pirate starter Joe Musgrove earned his first victory of the season with seven shutout innings. He allowed three hits, walked one and struck out ten.
On Friday night – Mitch Keller became the first National League pitcher with back-to-back no-hit starts of at least five innings since the Cincinnati Reds Johnny Vander Meer threw consecutive no-hitters in 1938.
The Major League Baseball post-season begins Tuesday with the first games of the Wild Card Series in the American League. Tampa Bay will host Toronto. Oakland will host the Chicago White Sox. Minnesota will host Houston. Cleveland will host the New York Yankees.
In the National League- the games will begin Wednesday with the L.A. Dodgers will hosting the Milwaukee Brewers. Atlanta will host Cincinnati. The Chicago Cubs host Miami. San Diego will host St. Louis.
All the Wild Card series are best-of-three.
