Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 continue to rise across Pennsylvania.
State Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine gave an update at a press conference yesterday. She says more than 1,100 patients are being treated for COVID-19.
“We do expect the number of hospitalizations to increase. Hospitalizations normally rise a few weeks after the increase in cases,” Levine said. “These numbers, however, continue to be well below what we saw in the spring, where at our peak, more than 3,000 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. But still, these increases are concerning to us.”
Levine says hospital care for coronavirus cases is much better now, in part because of therapeutics and improved treatments.
