The new owners of AK Steel are expressing appreciation for recent actions taken by the administration of President Donald Trump.
Earlier this week Cleveland Cliffs, which owns a plant in Ohio as well as AK in Butler, reacted favorably to news that federal officials plan to implement a remedy to cover imported Grain Oriented Electrical Steel.
Tariffs covering foreign steel in 2018 contained a loophole that foreign companies have been exploiting when it comes to this special kind of electrical steel which is only produced domestically at AK Steel.
In addition to thanking Trump and his administration, Cleveland Cliffs Chairman, President, and CEO Lourenco Goncalvez also expressed appreciation for the efforts of elected officials including Congressman Mike Kelly and U.S. Senator Bob Casey.
