Mars Area School District administrators have made the decision to close the High School for in-person instruction through December 2nd.
According to Mars Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross, four active cases have been reported at the High School. The High School will be closed for all activities through Friday to allow for cleaning after which time, teachers will be able to return to teach from the school.
With health, safety, and welfare of students being the top priority, high schoolers will engage in live-streamed instruction in place of attending in person. Available infection rate data does not support the need for remote instruction for younger students at this time.
Families are being asked to continue to self-report any COVID cases to district administration to allow for instructional planning. All information will be kept confidential. A decision is expected to be made on or about December 1st about returning to in-person instruction.
