A local teacher has been recognized for his efforts to connect students to history and one of the most horrific events of the 20th Century.
Seneca Valley teacher James “Jim” Lucot Jr was recently named the 2020-2021 Holocaust Educator of the Year by the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh.
This is the fifth year that the award has been given to a teacher in the tri-state area for excellence in Holocaust education. Lucot is a published author and has traveled extensively for Holocaust research.
Lucot has taught A.P. U.S. Government and Honors U.S. History at Seneca Valley for the last 20 years but also created a Holocaust Studies course at Butler County Community College.
