Police in Nashville say they have made an arrest in the murder of Butler native Caitlyn Kaufman.
Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake announced that 21-year-old Devante Louis Hill of Nashville has been arrested for the murder of Kaufman.
Hill was taken into custody without incident at his Berkshire Place apartment on Porter Road in East Nashville around 6:15 a.m.
Drake said that after a police interview, Hill gave a statement that implicated him in the murder of Kaufman. Drake added he couldn’t provide more details, and said the investigation is ongoing.
No motive was revealed, but police said that Hill didn’t know Caitlyn.
Drake said the reward played a pivotal role in learning more information.
“A major break came in this case within an hour of the announcement that an anonymous group of Nashville businessmen and entrepreneurs posted a $50,000 reward,” Drake said. “I understand many of those persons involved in the reward are dads that have families in Nashville, and love Nashville deeply. I thank them for their contribution.”
Police also said they couldn’t rule out that more arrests would be made in the case.
According to Drake, Caitlyn’s mother Diane is back in Pennsylvania planning for Caitlyn’s funeral, which is Saturday.
So far, more than $37,000 has been contributed to a GoFundMe page to help pay for Caitlyn’s funeral.
