With the upcoming holiday season and the need for continued vigilance due to the dangerous spread of COVID-19, many people are dealing with increased stress, anxiety and loneliness.
With older adults especially at risk for COVID infection as well as fewer family and personal connections, the PA Department of Aging’s Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman is offering help.
At the next Virtual Family Council meeting on December 29th, speakers will discuss the pandemic from the perspective of a long-term resident. The Pennsylvania Council on Aging’s Social Isolation Task Force is also holding free, virtual, small-group interactive sessions on senior health.
The Department of Human Services is also offering mental health support for those experiencing overwhelming feelings of anxiety, stress, or depression. The Persevere PA referral helpline is a free resource available 24/7 offering skilled counseling from experienced caseworkers.
