Another local municipality has joined the effort to support hospitality industry employees who are being laid off as a result of state protective measures.
Earlier this month the Butler County Commissioners announced a partnership with the Center for Community Resources and the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau in a Hospitality Campaign.
The Butler Township Board of Commissioners and Manager Tom Knights have instructed Butler County to retain 5% of the federal CARES Act funding that would have gone to the Township and use that money to support this effort. That amount is estimated to be around $22,000.
According to Township Commissioner Dave Zarnick, the money will be used to help purchase $100 gift cards for the over 700 local hospitality industry employees who have asked for help so far.
Over $100,000 has been raised for the initiative so far.
