Donald Theodore Wimer, 91 of Butler, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born January 23, 1929, in Ft. Crampel, French Equatorial, Africa, he was the son of Theodore Braden and Lila Elizabeth (Thornton) Wimer
Donald was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Butler. He served in the South Carolina National Guard. He loved to walk around Butler while he was able, was on a bowling league, and was an avid reader, especially about health-related topics.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Pat Wimer of Charlotte, NC, and nieces and nephews: Karen Wimer Weaver, Mooresville, NC, Ken and Mary Wimer, Shreveport, LA, Susan Hall and Joe Horst, Wrightsville, PA, and Rod Wimer, Charlotte, NC. He has 8 great nieces and nephew and 8 great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers Laurence, Arthur, and Gordon, and his sister-in-law Alice Wimer.
Due to COVID, there will be no viewing for Donald Theodore Wimer, who died Monday, December 28, 2020. Interment will be private in Greenlawn Burial Estates. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 3rd at 1PM at the First Baptist Church, 221 New Castle St. Butler, with Pastor David Maitland officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Mid Missions, PO Box 308011 Cleveland, OH 44103-8011 to put towards Refugees in Central African Republic.
