Karen Ann Mesner, 77, of Renfrew, PA left this earthly life on Tuesday, January 5th 2021 at Heritage Valley Health Systems/ Beaver, surrounded virtually by her loving family.
She was born on June 2, 1943 in Butler, PA, daughter of the late James and Helen Murphy.
Her fondest childhood memories are growing up around her aunts and cousins. She is a 1961 graduate of Butler High School. After meeting at the Butler Farm Show through Karen’s cousins, on April 8th, 1964, she married her love, Charles L Mesner Jr. During Chuck’s service in the US Navy in Vietnam, they travelled back and forth across the States in their Volkswagen Bug. Finally settling in Butler, they raised a family, owned and operated Mesner Service Company (a plumbing/HVAC business), and retired to watch their grandkids grow.
Karen had a feisty spirit, loved to read, paint with watercolors, eat popcorn while watching Star Wars and the Oscars with her son, and got her greatest enjoyment from being with family. She was loved by the church family of First Bible Baptist Church in Harmony, PA who shared with her of the love of Jesus Christ and His saving grace through Christ alone.
Mrs. Mesner was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years and is survived by her 2 children, Corinne (Mark) Nickerson of Renfrew, and Steven (Corinne) Mesner of Encino, CA; 10 grandchildren, Nathan (Stephanie) Nickerson, Zachary (Abigail) Nickerson, Eli (Emily) Nickerson, Rebecca Nickerson, Hannah Nickerson, Benjamin Nickerson, Sophia Mesner, Jeremiah/Miggs Nickerson, Ava Mesner, Lydia Nickerson; one great granddaughter Hadassah Noel Nickerson and a sister, Diane Murphy of Butler.
A private memorial service will be held on Friday January 15th at Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Pastor David G Smith of First Bible Baptist Church in Harmony, PA officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
