A local lawmaker is again encouraging the passage of legislation that would criminalize federal firearms confiscation in Pennsylvania.
Republican Representative Daryl Metcalfe has introduced House Bill 357 also known as the Right to Bear Arms Protection Act which would prevent additional federal gun control laws from being enforced.
Metcalfe’s bill is similar to legislation previously introduced in Wyoming and Texas in that it would prohibit any new federal registration or restriction of privately owned firearms. It would also require the PA Attorney General to intercede on behalf of Pennsylvania citizens against any federal attempt to ban the purchase or ownership of firearms that are currently legal products.
If enacted into law, House Bill 357 would make anyone, even federal agents, who try to enforce any new type of gun control within Pennsylvania subject to arrest and felony charges.
