Bernard “Bernie” Black, 88, of Butler, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 23, 1932 in Butler, the son of the late Harry and Carrie (Campbell) Black.
Bernie was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and volunteered for the fish fries at St. Conrad. He worked in the food service department at the Butler Area School District. Bernie was also a lifelong member of East Butler Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, sports, hunting, and most of all his family.
Surviving are his son, Rick (Susan) Black of Butler; 4 daughters, Carol (Ken) Sparks of St. Augustine, FL, Mary Lee (Chuck) Tompkins of Butler; Donna (Scott) Geibel of East Butler and Janet (Brian) Fulmer of Butler; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and his companion, Cleo Tritch of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise K. Black, whom he married on September 4, 1954 and who passed away on March 10, 2010. Also a son, Robert “Bob” Black who passed away on November 14, 2020.
Private visitation, services and burial were held.
