Donald Bear, 81, of Butler passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was born in Albion, MI on September 20, 1939 to the late Cloyce Bear and Lenora George. Donald served his Country honorably in the U.S. Navy as a typist and clerk, and had the privilege of serving on the USS Lexington. For the majority of his career, he worked as a Cost Estimating Engineer for Chester Engineers / U.S. Filter. He and his wife were very active with their community and were involved in the movement to develop Schools for Developmentally Disabled in Albion, MI. Don had a life long passion for art and painting. He loved reading, and was known to always have a book. Donald was known to be very active and enjoyed fishing and racquetball. Upon retirement he drove for Diehl Automotive. He was the loving husband of Margaret (Farrell) Bear since their marriage in 1962; father of Catherine Bear, Jaqualyn (Richard) Simpson, and Penelope (Jay) Bruce; grandfather of Samantha (Andrew) Connolly, Clay Simpson, Dr. Lydia (Timothy) Cook, Thomas (Madison) Bruce, and Emily (Christopher) Rodgers; great grandfather of Gwendolyn Cook and Julianne Bruce. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in laws. He was preceded in death by his sister Janet Dibean. Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 23rd from 5-7 pm in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD, BUTLER, PA 16001.
