Penn State Extension is asking for help in conducting a study to evaluate wild brook and brown trout.
Anglers are requested to submit a photo of the fish if a wild brook or brown trout is caught along with a special gray card that will be mailed upon request.
Pictures can be submitted along with a short survey about the catch through the Survey 123 app. Anglers must be at least 18 years of age and fishing locations will remain confidential. Characteristics to be evaluated include colors, pattern variations, and genetics.
Anglers participating in the study are advised to step back from the stream before attempting to take a photo in order to avoid accidentally dropping their phone in the water.
