High School Sports:
WPIAL Boys Volleyball:
–Butler defeated Latrobe 3-0 in the 3A First Round. The Golden Tornado will meet Hempfield tonight at 6pm at North Allegheny high school. North Allegheny faces Norwin at 8pm.
–Seneca Valley defeated Armstrong 3-0. The Raiders will meet Fox Chapel Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Boys Volleyball 2A First Round:
–North Catholic defeated Keystone Oaks 3-0. The Trojans will meet Montour Thursday.
–Mars fell to Montour 3-1.
WPIAL Boys Lacrosse:
–Seneca Valley defeated Canon-McMillan 12-1 in the 3A First Round. The Raiders will travel to Shady Side Academy Thursday in the quarterfinal round.
–Pine-Richland defeated Penn-Trafford 19-9. The Rams get Upper St. Clair Thursday.
Tonight in the 2A Boys Lacrosse quarterfinals, Mars will host Franklin Regional at 8pm. North Catholic will face Sewickley Academy at Chartiers Valley at 5:30pm.
The North Catholic Boys Tennis team were knocked out of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs in the First Round following a 3-2 loss to Fairview.
WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–Mars will meet Gateway today in the 5A First Round. The game begins at North Allegheny high school at 4pm.
–Knoch will play Quaker Valley in the 4A First Round today at Fox Chapel high school. First pitch is 4:30pm.
–North Catholic will play the game before that against Elizabeth Forward at 2pm, also in the 4A First Round.
WPIAL Softball Playoffs:
–Knoch will meet Central Valley at Mars high school today at 4pm in the 4A First Round.
–Freeport will face Yough at Norwin high school at 3pm.
District 9 Baseball:
–Moniteau scored nine runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Clarion 17-11.
–Karns City lost their fourth game in a row, dropping a 7-4 decision to Brookville.
Softball:
–Karns City defeated Keystone 9-4. Zoe King led the Gremlins with three hits, including a home run and double. She scored twice and drove in two.
