The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will hold four public hearings next month on another proposed rate increase requested by Columbia Gas.
The hearings will take place over the telephone on Monday, June 14th and Wednesday, June 16th beginning at 1 and 6 p.m. both days.
Columbia requested the $98 million per year rate hike earlier this month. The average monthly bill for a residential customer would increase by nearly 15% from nearly $101 per month to just over $115 per month. Columbia Gas also requested a rate increase last year and the PUC approved an increase less than what was requested after two public hearings over the phone last summer.
Those who would like to testify at this hearing should email the assistant of the judge conducting the hearing or call 412-565-3550. Those who would just like to listen should also call or email.
A final decision is expected by the end of this year. Columbia Gas provides service to roughly 436,000 residents and businesses in western and southern Pennsylvania, including many in Butler County.
