Slippery Rock University has established an advisory council to provide leadership for a new center for local partnerships and improvements.
The SRU Center for Community Engagement, Empowerment, and Development, known as Butler SUCCEED, was created last year to advance learning, research, and civic engagement.
The 20 member council includes Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche, SRU Trustee and Butler City Councilmember Jeff Smith, and directors of local organizations like the Butler YWCA, the Blind Association, and the Butler Regional United Way among others.
This group will meet quarterly through July of next year to advise the center’s leaders and help set priorities.
SRU is leasing a physical location for Butler SUCCEED at 150 North Main Street in Butler that will act as a hub for civic engagement after it has been renovated later this year.
