A new study shows that agriculture accidents are happening more than previously thought.
The report out of Penn State looked at the last five years of reported emergency room trips due to agricultural-related accidents.
It found more than 60,000 total visits happened for non-fatal injuries. Also, the report found that children and teens made up nearly one-third of those injuries.
Penn State researchers say that small family farms are likely contributing to this number since they are whole family operations.
They also added that prior to this research, data was limited because studies haven’t been as extensive.
