The Seneca Valley School District has hired a familiar face in local law enforcement to lead the district’s safety and security department.
Jackson Township Police Department Officer Jason Young was approved by the school board during a meeting earlier this month as the next Supervisor of Safety and Security.
Young comes to the position after serving as a School Resource Officer on the Seneca Valley Secondary campus for the past six years. During that time he collaborated with faculty to create crisis plans as well as worked to reduce juvenile delinquency.
When school is not in session, Young has served as a patrolman with the Jackson Township Police Department. He previously spent eight years as a Butler County Deputy Sheriff working with public and private schools as well as nearly ten years with the Saxonburg Borough Police.
Young earned his Associates Degree at Butler County Community College and is active in several local non-profit organizations.
Officer Young replaces Jeff James, who was recently named Police Chief with the Robert Morris University Police Department in Moon Township.
