Richard W. “Dick” Sertik, 77, of Chicora, passed away Thursday morning, July 1, 2021 at the Orchards of Saxonburg while in the company of his daughter, granddaughter, and sister.
Richard was born in Pittsburgh on December 19, 1943. He was the son of the late Walter and Mary “Gumelda” Rider Sertik. Dick was a graduate of Allegheny Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed taking trips to casinos. He retired as a machinist from Indspec in Petrolia. Dick attended St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Kathleen Metro Sertik, on February 6, 2005. The couple was married at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Sagamore on January 31, 1970.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Monica Sertik, and a granddaughter, Alexandria Sertik, both of Chicora. Also surviving is his sister, Linda Baer and her husband, Robin, of Emlenton, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Davis and a brother, Dennis Sertik.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. today (Saturday) at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, with the Rev. Radko Blichar, pastor of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Mary Greek Catholic Cemetery in Sagamore.
