This past weekend marked the 15th anniversary of the last time minimum wage went up in Pennsylvania.
The $2 per hour increase was signed into law on July 9th, 2006 and Democrats in Harrisburg want to see another bump.
“I wish I were signing a new minimum wage increase into law,” Governor Tom Wolf said. “After 15 years of inaction and passing the buck by our General Assembly leadership, a minimum wage increase is desperately needed by the people of Pennsylvania today.”
Democrats want an immediate jump to $12 per hour with a pathway to $15 per hour.
Republicans have argued that’s too big of a jump too quickly.
