Donna Jean (Green) Etzel, 89, of Butler passed away July 11, 2021, with her loving family by her side following a short battle with cancer.
Donna was born May 3, 1932, to the late Edward and Evelyn (Kramer) Green. She was a 1950 graduate of Butler High School. She married the late Regis Etzel, Sr., on November 12, 1955; they were married for 37 years until his death on December 13, 1992.
Left behind to cherish her memory are 5 sons Louis (Roxane), Edward, Regis Jr. (Carol), Jerry (fiancée Susan Tritch), and Chris; and 2 daughters Cindy (Dan) Hay and Diane Nebel. She was lovingly known as Grandma Donna by 11 grandchildren Justin Etzel, Mandi Daniels, Patty Hay, Christopher Etzel, Alec Nebel, Janae Nebel, Brooklyn Etzel, Sydney Etzel, Zoe Etzel, Austin Etzel, and Dalton Etzel; and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister Pearl Green and a brother Bill (Joyce) Green.
Donna was employed at the United Telephone Company for several years and then worked as a bookkeeper for Regis Etzel Masonry Company until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and putting together puzzles. Her greatest joy was taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church (St. Francis of Assisi Parish), delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, and was a member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department, where her husband served as chief for over twenty-five years before his death.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Regis Etzel, Sr., a grandson Joshua Etzel, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Herman on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
