Gas prices continue to inch higher both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, increased by a penny to $3.29 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by two cents over the past week to reach $3.31. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $3.25 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.37 in Brookville.
The average national gas price rose by three more cents over the past week to $3.17 which is nearly a dollar more than last year but still 41 cents less than the high in 2014. AAA expects gas prices continuing to remain high through the summer as a result of strong demand and high crude oil prices.
