A recall has been issued for dehumidifiers that were sold at some popular stores.
The manufacturer is New Widetech and the product was sold at Lowe’s, Costco, Walmart, as well as other locations outside of the area. The dehumidifiers were sold between February 2009 through August 2017 costing between $120 and $430.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall was issued on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 because the product can overheat and catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards. At least 107 incidents have occurred resulting in $17 million in property damage.
Consumers should stop using the dehumidifiers immediately and get a refund from the manufacturer.
About 2 million of the dehumidifiers were sold in the U.S. with additional sales in Canada and Mexico.
