New legislation aims to collect more unpaid tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The new bill would lower the threshold needed to trigger a vehicle registration suspension from six violations to four and also the amount of fees owed by drivers.
Democratic State Representative Mike Carroll of Luzerne County says that this bill is just a start.
“It doesn’t at all address the issues with out of state drivers, it does not address folks who obscure their drivers licenses for one reason or another. It is a modest step that I think will make a difference,” Carrol said. “Trying to get the attention of folks with respect to having their registration temporarily suspended.”
The move to all digital tolling was one of the main reasons for the major drop in toll collection.
