A local state park will host an educational event later this week focusing on the state tree of Pennsylvania.
On Friday, area residents are invited to McConnells Mill State Park to learn more about the Eastern Hemlock tree. Starting at 9 a.m., attendees will learn more about the tree, while enjoying the scenes of the park in the picnic area above the gristmill.
Attendees, who are asked to wear sturdy shoes and to dress for the weather, will also enjoy a two mile hike with the park naturalist.
Friday’s event will run until approximately 10:30 a.m. with all current health guidelines to be followed.
