Chester L. “Dutch” Bauer, 89, of Butler, passed away of natural causes, Thursday evening, October 21, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
Born December 2, 1931, he was a son of the late Barton and Jesse Bauer of Cabot.
Dutch joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He was the founder of Bauer Excavating in 1973, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, also the Church choir and was past president of St. Mary’s School P.T.G.
Surviving are his children: Louis Bauer and Ken Druse of Newton, NJ; Marie (Jim) Baronetski of West Sunbury; Linda (Rick) Mazzanti of Butler; Gary Bauer of Butler; Ray Bauer of Butler; Barbara (Bill) Holt of Butler; Les (Betsy) Bauer of Butler; Howard (Leann) Bauer of Butler; Ruth (Lee) Jamison of Moneta, VA; Walt Bauer and Susan Druschel of Harmony: Dave (Michelle) Bauer of Emlenton; Chuck (Sarah) Bauer of Chicora.
32 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
1 sister, Sarah Jane Emerick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Kuhn) Bauer, whom he married June 24, 1954, she passed away on August 8, 2014; also 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at Shindigs/Bauer Excavating, 705 Herman Road, Butler, PA 16002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 10:00 am, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic in Herman. The Rev. Matt McClain, Pastor, will officiate. Everyone is asked to please meet at the Church Tuesday morning.. Private internment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
