Butler City Police say their crisis intervention training helped them negotiate with a woman who was having a mental health crisis.
Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Third Street yesterday around 10 a.m. for a mental health assist. Butler Mental Health advocates had a valid warrant for a 68-year-old woman that was barricaded inside her home.
She allegedly told police that she would shoot any officer who tried to take her out of the house. Police say they negotiated with the woman for hours, using their training.
Officers eventually made entrance with a robot and came to a peaceful resolution.
The woman was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and no charges will be filed.
