The Pittsburgh Penguins shut-out the Ottawa Senators 2-0 last night. Back-up goaltender Casey DeSmith stopped all 26 shots he faced, stealing the night from former Penguins goaltender Matt Murray, who stopped 42 of the 43 shots he faced from his former team.
It was the first time Murray has faced the team which drafted him in 2012 and the team that he helped to two Stanley Cup trophies.
Jeff Carter scored the game-winning goal for the Pens in the second period, his 13th of the season. Bryan Rust scored an empty-net goal in the final 30 seconds of the game.
The Pens visit the New Jersey Devils Sunday afternoon. Face-off is 1:30pm. Pre-game on WISR is 1pm.
The Penguins remain one point behind first-place Carolina in the Metro Division after the Hurricanes shutout Boston 6-0 last night. The Bruins were missing a couple of key player, including the suspended Brad Marchand, as they lost of the third time in four games.
