Several local organizations are teaming up to host a job fair to help employees of the recently closed XPER, formerly Ibis Tek.
Butler County is joining with the Community Development Corporation of Butler County, the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board, the Butler County Manufacturing Consortium, Butler County Community College Workforce Development, and the Butler County Chamber of Commerce for the job fair on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UAW Local 3303 Union Hall on Hollywood Drive in Butler.
This event is open to former employees XPER and members of the general public are also invited to attend. Over 30 companies and organizations are expected to participate.
“There were about 200 people who were displaced,” Butler County’s Chief Economic and Planning Officer Mark Gordon said. “Let’s help the people. Let’s help the former employee, and let’s do anything we can if we can provide them hope.”
“My personal goal is by the end of this week, anybody out of that group that wants to work will have an opportunity for a family sustaining wage at one of the employers here in our county,” Gordon added.
XPER closed without much warning to employees earlier this month.
