Gas prices have again risen locally but slightly dropped across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by two cents over the past week to reach $3.71 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by three cents during that same time to also reach $3.71. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Greensburg at $3.60, while the most expensive is $3.77 in Mercer.
The average national gas price rose by eight cents over the past week to reach $3.61 which is nearly a dollar more than a year ago. According to AAA, the price of crude oil and gas will likely continue to rise due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
