The South Butler School District will officially change their name later this year.
The district’s school board voted 7-1 in favor of switching the name to the Knoch School District effective July 1st.
It’s a move two years in the making, as administration and board members were looking to change the district’s name in order to align it with high school’s name.
The process also led to a change in state law spearheaded by Representative Marci Mustello, which now allows school boards and the Department of Education to approve the change, as opposed to it moving through the legislature.
