Clair “Bub” Eugene Jewart, 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at his home in Hooker, surrounded by his family.
Born on November 29, 1937 in Lackawanna, New York, he was the son of the late Lawrence Jewart and Elizabeth (Wall) Jewart.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Vargo) Jewart, whom he married July 27, 1958; and three children: Jodie (David) Heckman of Utica, Judy (Robert) Scott of Slippery Rock, and Michael (Heather) Jewart of Hooker. He was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Luke and Ryan Scott, and Zachary, Jacob, Samuel and Abbey Jewart. He also had a very close relationship with his niece Tammy (Roger) Grossman and their children, Roger (Chris) Grossman and Randy (Crystal) Grossman and looked upon her as another daughter. Bub is also survived by several siblings, Mary Adams of Fairview; Donald “Pop” (Donna) Jewart of Chicora; Rose Watson of Mars; Donna Lingle of Clearfield and Linda Chupka of Butler.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Kenneth “Dean” Jewart; and three sisters, Arabell Moore, Ruth Ann McDaniel and an infant sister.
Bub served in the Army was a proud member of American Legion Post 243. He worked as a lineman for United Telephone and Sprint and was one of the first men to work on fiber optic lines. He loved to hunt and fish and watch his birds at the birdfeeder. One of his fondest memories was being with each grandchild as they harvested their first whitetail deer. Bub could also be found in the stands or along the fence at many of his grandkids’ sporting events. He was always willing to lend a hand and could engage any person he met in conversation.
His family would like to extend appreciation to the nurses and doctors at Butler County Dialysis Center, Butler Memorial Hospital, and Good Samaritan Hospice for the care and compassion they extended.
Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Monday April 4, 2022 at the William F Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street West Sunbury. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday April 5, 2022 at the funeral home with Rev. Mary Kitchen officiating.
Burial will follow at North Butler Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by the Moniteau Ceremonial Squad. Bub’s family requests that everyone please dress casual as that is what Bub would have wanted.
