Jackie L. “Jack” Pyle, 83 of Chicora passed away early Monday morning April 25, 2022 while in the comfort of his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Jackie was born in Walkchalk, Armstrong County on September 8, 1938. He was the son of the late Max Sr. and Nellie Mae Toy Pyle.
He was a graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School. He was of the protestant faith. Jack had a strong work ethic and was a mine foreman working in the coal mines for nearly 40 years and was later employed by Trinity Industries in Butler. Jack enjoyed watching the races at Lernerville and looked forward to attending Cody and Kaden’s demolition derbies and Farm Show events and races. He enjoyed the company of his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids, listening to blue grass music, hunting and fishing and the company of his dogs, “Trip” and “Taz” and his cat, “Cat”.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Judy A. Patton Pyle on February 5, 2011. The couple was married in McGrann on October 24, 1959.
Surviving are five children, Jackie Shelatree and her husband, Roger, of Butler, Jodi Williams and her husband, David, of Chicora, John Pyle and his wife, Amy, of Harrisville, and James “Jim” Pyle and his wife, Sharon, of Butler, and Jeff Pyle and his wife, Barb, of Petrolia; 16 grandchildren, Nathan, Jen, Nikki, Justin, Cory, Zach, Sam, Ben, Jake, Taylor, Jesse, Josh, Kate, Luke, Cody and Chris; 3 step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Delores Boltz and her husband, Foster, of Kittanning; his mother-in-law, Alice Kravenor Patton Toy of Kittanning, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law , nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Pyle, who died January 15, 2022; three sisters, eight brothers; his father-in-law, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora from Noon-2 and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev Joseph Boomhower, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora, officiating. Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jack’s memory may be made to the Chicora Fire Dept, Drawer F, Chicora, PA 16025.
