Lawmakers in Harrisburg heard from statewide officials about the ongoing issue of police departments finding enough officers.
David Steffen is the president of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and he testified before the state senate earlier this week.
“That is one of the challenges that we hear across the Commonwealth. Is that we can’t establish a viable pool of recruits for law enforcement selection,” Steffen said.
Steffen says these issues combined with the ongoing opioid epidemic in the state have made for challenging times for police departments.
