As the recount for the Pennsylvania Republican Senate race continues, a new ruling by a Supreme Court justice will impact how the state counts undated ballots.
These were ballots sent by mail, but did not include a handwritten date on the envelope. A new ruling by Justice Samuel Alito issued this week now pauses the counting of those undated ballots.
Dave McCormick’s campaign had filed a suit arguing for those ballots to be counted in the final vote. It’s a move that the Republican National Committee and fellow candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz opposed.
Here in Butler County, officials say there were 83 undated ballots—50 were from Democratic voters and 33 from Republican voters. However, those votes have not been added in to the current total.
