The Atlanta Braves hit four home runs Sunday afternoon and defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 to complete a four-game series sweep. 33-year old starting pitcher Jose Quintana allowed three of the Braves round-trippers. The Pirates matched Atlanta’s seven hits, but managed only two for extra-bases. Bryan Reynolds had two hits and a home runs. He drove in all three Pirate runs. Tucapita Marcano had three hits including a double. The loss was the Pirates sixth in a row. Atlanta has now won 11 straight games.
The Pirates are now in St. Louis to begin a four-game series tonight. First pitch is 7:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:20pm.
The Cardinals lead the National League Central Division by a half game over Milwaukee. The Brewers snapped an eight-game losing streak with a win over Washington Sunday.
